CRISIS FUND

Approved March 17, 1991

PURPOSE
To assure attainment of meaningful and rewarding employment without sacrifice of personal or family dignity. To maintain the health and safety of the individual and family while employment potential is being pursued. To help maintain the family under extreme financial hardship. Job counseling and training will be a primary purpose.

Confidentiality will be guaranteed.

METHOD
A fund will be established with a minimum of $10,000.

This money will not be a part of the church budget but will be administered and maintained separately as a self-sufficient operating fund administered by the Session.

The fund will not be a budget line item nor will it be a part of the annual Stewardship program.

Funds will be available to members of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church only. Otehr programs are budgeted for community assistance and mission work.

All money utilized will be on an interest free loan basis.

Participants will sign for monies disbursed and agree to begin repayment of the total amount as soon as employment begins.

The fund will be administered only to those in absolute need.

Repayment will be required to insrue the integrity of the fund and prvent individual dependency.

FUNDING
The membership is asked to prayerfully consider a one-time donation to establish an initial minimum fund of $10,000.00.

The membership will be informed of the program and crisis fund by being contacted by a member of one of the organizations of the church (Men of Good Shepherd, Presbyterian Women, Session Committees). A personal letter will be sent to the membership outlining the program and asking for the one time donation. The newsletter will have an article published.

CONFIDENTIALITY
This is extremely important for the entire program to operate with with the highest level of confidentiality possible. This will require personal knowledge of individuals involved in counseling and/or financial assistance to be limited to the following persons only:

  • Senior Pastor
  • MOGS Spiritual Leadership Chairman
  • Administrative Committee Chair (Currently called the Communication and Resources Chiar)
  • Treasurer

Confidentiality for correspondance, communication or documentation necessary for the normal conduct of business will be maintained by using a number assigned to each case and/or transaction required.

The MOGS Spiritual Leadership Chairman will be responsibel for maintaining the records and coordinating all necessary communication to the Session.
